Anna M. Panattieri, 80, formerly of New Street, Hudson
section of Plains Township, died Wednesday in the
Geisinger of Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains
Township, following an illness.
Born in Avoca, she was the daughter of the late Martin
and Victoria Janoska Soy. Anna was raised in Avoca and
had resided in the Keystone section and later Hudson
section of Plains for over fifty-five years. She was a sewing
machine operator for Pittston Apparel and on the
housekeeping staff of the former Cotton Ave School,
Hudson and Medico Industries of Plains Township. She
was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. Anna
was a loving mother, grandmother and will be sadly
missed in the family gatherings for her cooking
prescience. Mrs. Panattieri was preceded in death in
addition to her parents by her husband Bruno of fifty-five
years, May 14, 2004; sisters Stella Healey, Theresa Blake;
Sophie Evanich, Agnes Opett, Mary Nasihtka and by
brothers John and Michael Soy.
Surviving are daughters Barbara Roslewicz and her
husband Ronald, Hudson; Lois Kopec and her husband
John, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren Michael Kopec, Bear
Creek; Sherri Kopec, Florida; sisters Frances Cavalari and
Peggy Abent, both of Avoca and a brother Joseph Soy,
Pittston.
Anna's funeral will be held Saturday morning at 8:30
a.m. from the Mark V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark
Street, Plains with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.
from St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. Interment will be
in the Lithuanian Independent Cemetery, West
Wyoming. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday
