  Anna  C. Stranch, 84, of Hilldale, Plains Township, died Saturday
in the Partridge-Tippett Care section of Wesley Village, Inkerman,
following an illness.

Born and lived in Hilldale her entire life, she was the daughter of
the late John and Anna Siskevich Wecerkosky. Anna was a  graduate
of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1939 and the Empire Beauty
School of Wilkes-Barre. She was a licensed Cosmetologist and
operated Anna's Beauty Salon on Hilldale Ave until her retirement.
Mrs. Stranch also worked for Freeder's Cigar Factory, several local
dress factories and was on the housekeeping staff of the Howard
Johnson Motor Lodge, Pittston Township. Anna was a very active
member and had served as an officer for many years in various
organizations that promoted education and opportunities for
children with Down's Syndrome and other disabilities. She was also
an organizer and coach for the Up and Down Bowling League at
Chacko's Bowling lanes, Wilkes-Barre. Anna was a member of
Sacred Heart Church, Plains and a past president of the Lithuanian
Womens' Club, Wilkes-Barre. During her life, she loved to
travel with her mother and youngest daughter Jeanne. In addition to
her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband William,
May 19, 1988; daughter Jeanne Stranch, March 3, 2007; brothers Paul
Vecerkauskas, John Wesser and by a sister Carol Kotsur.

Surviving are sons Bill and his wife Judy, Wilmington, Delaware;
Vincent J. and his wife Karen Chabala, Larksville; daughters Anne
Marie Emerson and her husband Tom, Owings Mills, Maryland;
Marianne Stranch and her husband David Shapiro, Elmont, New
York; Melanie Kayne and her husband Allan, Alamuchy, New Jersey;
sister Betty Ann Dieso and her husband Charles, Hilldale;
grandchildren David Stranch and his wife Dana, Port Griffith; Sarah
Emerson, Owings Mills, Maryland; Max Erroude, Alamuchy, New
Jersey; Sam Kayne, Alamuchy, New Jersey; great-grandaughter
Kristel Stranch, Port Griffith; several nieces and nephews.

Anna's funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Mark
V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark Street, Plains, with a Funeral
Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Plains. Interment will be in
St. Francis Cemetery, Plains Township. Friends may call Tuesday 4
to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be given to A.R.C. of Luzerne
