John (Jack) Francis Harrity Jr., 81, of the Hudson section of Plains
Township, passed away Tuesday peacefully at home, following a lengthy
illness.

       Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John F. Harrity Sr.
and Anna Williams.   John was a graduate of G.A.R. High School, Class of
1946.  He then joined the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean
War as a radar operator in the 78th AAA Gun Battalion.  Upon returning
home John was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot as a Quality
Assurance Inspector for thirty years until his retirement in 1987.  John
enjoyed fishing, writing, painting, bowling, and was an amateur
photographer.  He was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Camera Club and Ss.
Peter and Paul Church, Plains.  John was preceded in death by his sister
Ann Harrity.

       John is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, the former Ann
M. Mociun, at home; son Jack and his wife Cindy, Philadelphia; daughter
Maureen Jones and her husband Keith, Shavertown; grandchildren
Spencer and Brian Harrity, and numerous nieces and nephews.

       The Funeral for Mr. Harrity will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. from
the Mark V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark Street, Plains, with a Mass of
Christian Burial in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Interment will be in
St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township, with military honors. Friends may
call Thursday 5 to 8 p.m.
