  Josephine Serafin, 93, of  the Miners-Mills section of Wilkes-
Barre passed into the hands of her Lord Jesus, early Tuesday
morning, February 9, 2010 at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-
Barre, following an illness.

        Born February 29, 1916 in Hudson, she was the
daughter of the late Stanley and Rose, Daveski Bajerski.
Josephine was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church,
Plains and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a woman
devoted to God the Father. Throughout her quiet life she was
a dedicated and caring mother, grandmother and great-
grandmother. Josephine was preceded in death by her
husband Joseph on October 27, 1973; a brother Stanley and
sisters Lottie and Stella Bajerski. Most recently she lost her
granddaughter Colleen Wilcox on January 4, 2010.

        Surviving are her grateful children Joseph Serafin and
his wife Ellen, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Edward Serafin
and his wife Bridget of Wilkes-Barre; Dorothy Yelland and her
husband Tom of Wilkes-Barre; Rosemary McCarthy and her
husband John of Hilldale and Kathleen Serafin of Tannersville.
Josephine was blessed with grandchildren Karen Lindt,
Patricia Mason, Susan Brooks, Michele Cherne, Ward
Wilcox, Lisa Kammerer, Janet Wilcox, Richard Serafin, Jill
Miraglia, Eric Serafin, Christopher McCarthy and Brian
McCarthy. Gifts to Josephine were her great-grandchildren
Christopher, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Joseph, James, Michael,
Lauren, Daniel, Amanda, Matthew, Mark, Joseph, Dominique,
Alexis, Evan, Eryka, Colin, Gavin, Dylan, Sophiane, Miriam,
Rabah, Fawzie and Wanda.

         Josephine’s funeral will be conducted on Saturday at 10:
30 a.m. from Mark V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark Street,
Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Ss.
Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Interment will be in Ss. Peter
and Paul Cemetery, Plains. Friends may call at the funeral
home on Friday 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to time of
services. The family wishes to give special recognition and
deep appreciation to Doctor John M. Prater for his care to
their mother. Special thanks to the personnel at Riverstreet
Manor and Complete Home Health Care for their wonderful
